Jianghan University

JianghanUniversity :- is a university in Wuhan, Hubei, China. Its campus is 1.4 km², with an additional 0.5 km² under construction. It lies in the Wuhan Economy and Technology Development Zone by the Lake Sanjiao.

Jianghan University was created as a technical college by the city government of Wuhan in 1981. It started a four-year undergraduate program in 1990s. In 2001, it merged with Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Hankou branch) and Wuhan Worker's Medical College; it later moved to the current campus.

Jianghan University was accredited in October 2001 as a comprehensive university by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. It was established on the basis of the amalgamation of Jianghan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Hankou branch), Wuhan Institute of Education, and Wuhan Workers Medical College.

Degree Programs and Faculty
The university offers 51 degree programs covering a wide range of areas of study including economy, law, liberal arts and history, education, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, and management. It has a faculty of 975 teachers including 500-odd professors and associate professors, and the population of full-time students has reached 16000.

The university has 16127 sets of teaching instruments and research equipment, the total value of which approximates RMB ￥123 million. Its library possesses a book collection of 1.72 million volumes and 650,000 kinds of electronic materials. The university also has 20 scientific research institutes, including the Institute of Development, and the Institute of Higher Education Research. It is now undertaking or has completed a large number of scientific research programs (projects), among which many have reached international or state advanced levels, many won state, ministerial or provincial awards.

Library and information
The library of Jianghan University covers a total floorage of 30,800 square meters. Its rich resources include 1.72 million volumes of printed books and over 3000 kinds of periodicals in foreign languages. There are also 620,000 e-books and 30,000 electronic periodicals in Chinese and foreign languages, as well as over 20 Chinese and foreign language data bases.

The library has 26 reading rooms with more than 3000 seats, providing open-shelves services. Besides, it also has 54 research compartments, and a modern Multifunctional Hall with 210 seats. The library has just built up the automatic library system under web environment, with express computer web platform of 1000-odd information knobs, providing access to campus net, CERNET, INTERNET.

Strong Facilities
The university has 29 laboratories of different kinds, and 150 sub-labs, which, in accordance with their functions, belong to 3 laboratory levels: general fundamental disciplines center, specialized fundamental disciplines labs, and specialized research center. They have altogether 16127 sets of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment, with a total value of RMB ￥123 million. The total floorage of laboratories is 55,000 square meters. Close International Cooperation
The university places high importance on international academic and cultural exchanges. It has established good cooperative relationships with universities and academic organizations in the United States, France, Japan, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom and Korea. It aims at extending such relations with more educational institutions in the world.
